Smoke detector tester sprays are aerosol cans used to simulate smoke for testing the functionality of photoelectric and optical smoke detectors. They are a safe alternative to using real smoke, as they are typically designed to evaporate completely without leaving residue, and they check the entire unit, not just the test button. To use, shake the can, spray from a specified distance (e.g., 30-40 cm) for a few seconds, and check if the alarm is triggered. Description and features
  • Purpose: To test the complete functionality of photoelectric and optical smoke detectors without additional equipment.
  • Method: Sprays simulate smoke particles to trigger the alarm, ensuring the sensor, circuitry, and alarm are working correctly.
  • Residue-free: Most formulations are silicone-free and designed to evaporate completely, preventing the detector from being soiled or its sensors from being impaired in the future.
  • Safety: They are a safe and convenient way to test detectors regularly without the risks associated with using real smoke.
  • Applications: Suitable for testing smoke detectors in various settings, including industrial plants, public facilities, and private households.
How to use
  1. Shake the can well before use.
  2. Spray the detector from approximately 30 cm to 40 cm away for about 2 to 5 seconds.
  3. Check the alarm: The smoke detector should sound within a few seconds.
  4. Repeat if necessary: If the alarm does not sound after the first test, repeat the process.
  5. Replace if faulty: If the alarm still does not sound after several tests, the smoke detector is likely defective and needs to be replaced.
Important considerations
  • Check the detector's user manual for specific instructions and recommended testing intervals.
  • Clean the detector's vents periodically to prevent dust and debris buildup, which can impede proper smoke entry.
  • Replace the battery as recommended by the manufacturer.
